Vielleicht bin ich nicht der richtige Jury für dieses Buch. Erstens bin ich Christ und daher liebe ich Israel. Zweitens habe ich das Buch nie zur Gänze gelesen, weil mir die Zeit fehlte. Doch eines kann ich sagen: Dieses Buch beschreibt auf launige und sehr intelligente Weise verschiedene Fasetten des Volkes, das so unterschiedlich ist wie nur möglich. Eines aber haben die Juden gemeinsam: Ein Bewusstsein, dass ihr Schicksal eng mit der Tora, mit dem Gesetz zusammenhängt. Und auf Grund dieses Bewusstseins nehmen sie Segen über Segen und verblüffen die Welt!

It's a small book by size, but an absolute must read. Good job by Mr. Senor and Mr. Singer to say the least. The only reason why Israel succeeded in such a short time is because they are God's people. and when you have the guidance of the Creator with you, who can stop you?

Book describes how Startup nation realised itself in a tough and unforgiven environment. Israel as a state and Israelis as startupers are worth admiration.

Um ein bißchen die israelische Wirtschaft kennen zu lernen, ist das Buch sehr gut. Interessante, leichte Kost....die ich schnell verschlungen habe.

Buch bestellt, ein paar Tage gewartet, Buch in erwartetem Zustand erhalten. In diesem Fall hat alles so geklappt wie es klappen muss. 5 Sterne für keine Kritik :-)

From Jaffa to Java - die israelische Wirtschaft ist superdynamisch und modern und bietet den arabischen Nachbarn als Friedensdividende hervorragende Kooperationsmöglichkeiten. Das auch für nicht wirtschaftswissenschaftlich vorgebildete Leser geeignete Buch bietet einen gut lesbaren, humorvoll geschriebenen und spannenden Überblick über die Wirtschaftsentwicklung Israels bzw. der jüdischen Palästinenser seit den 1880er Jahren. Sehr gut hat mir gefallen, dass auch die politischen Rahmenbedingungen berücksichtigt werden und überzeugend in die Analyse der Gründe für das israelische Wirtschaftswunder eingebaut werden. Etwas erstaunlich finde ich jedoch, dass die deutsch-israelischen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen und die deutsche Wirtschaftshilfe im Rahmen der Wiedergutmachung der 50er Jahre, die seit der Gründung des Staates Israel eine fundamentale Bedeutung für die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Israel hatten, nicht angesprochen werden. Das Buch ist mit sehr viel Sympathie/Empathie für den Staat Israel geschrieben, bleibt aber erfreulich sachlich, wie bei einem Buch des Council on Foreign Relations auch nicht anders zu erwarten... (Nicht nur) Deutschland kann von Israel einige Lektionen lernen. Nicht unbedingt, warum es sich lohnt, in der Wüste Fische zu züchten, aber doch zumindest, wie es gelingen kann, den Gründermut der Einwanderer für die wirtschaftliche Dynamik zu nutzen. Zur Risikobereitschaft der Israelis kommt eine fast "deutsch" anmutende Arbeitsethik.Den spirit des Buchs und des in ihm vermittelten israelischen Selbstverständnisses beschreibt vielleicht ganz gut der im ersten Kapitel zitierte joke, den ich mal wiedergeben möchte:Four guys standing on a street corner...an American, a Russian, a Chinese man, and an Israeli...A reporter comes up to the group and says to them:"Excuse me... Whats your opinion on the meat shortage?"The American says: Whats's a shortage?The Russian says: What's meat?The Chinese man says: What's an opinion?The Israeli says: What's "Excuse me?";))Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert.
